Welcome to the Open Call for Radio Works for the monteaudio26resiliencia International Sound Art Festival
The Music Institute of the Faculty of Arts at the University of the Republic and the Experimental Sound Art Workshop, together with the monteaudio26resiliencia International Sound Art Festival and Radio Monteaudio, invite sound artists to submit radio art works to be broadcast in December and January on Radio Monteaudio as part of the monteaudio26resiliencia International Sound Art Festival.
The purpose of this call is to develop a platform for showcasing radio sound works created by artists from around the world, reflecting the broadest possible spectrum of sound creations.
Radio Monteaudio, now in its fourth year of operation, promotes broadcasting and listening as artistic practices that engage community and social sensibilities through sound and the spoken word.
As is customary in the Monteaudio call for submissions, we typically offer the greatest possible freedom regarding the themes that you, the creators, wish to explore through your works.
Nevertheless, while maintaining this spirit in the current call for submissions, this year we once again invite artists to reflect, through sound-based media, on a range of urgent issues in the global and local contexts of this stage of the Anthropocene.
This invitation takes the form of a list of possible questions, intended to encourage participants to choose topics or even propose their own questions, and to present their sonic reflections on these questions, answers, and urgent issues.
Any resemblance to the previous call for submissions may be an illusion… or an inspiration… it’s not a mistake!

It was urgent to talk, to do something, and to resolve this.
Did anything happen? Was anything resolved? Or are we in even more of a hurry now?
What does “resolve” mean?
Or are we just waiting for it to end?
Could that be it—AI?
Are they just messing around?
And the trumpet? Did it bring down walls or build them?
Is it spreading like malaria?
Where did the rats go? When did they leave?
And what happened to the people when they bombed the area?
What does the bottom of the river smell like?
How much more will we put up with?
Where will the next thing explode?
What does it feel like to be an extended being?
Have you ever been to a planet uninhabited by humans?
Are there any planets left inhabited by humans?
Is everything political when you’re a woman? And when you’re a politician, what is everything?
Who raises the boys and girls? Who educates the parents?
Who miseducates the politicians?
And what about the ocean floor?
What do you feel or think unites human beings?
Have you ever gone into exile?
How does your dream unfold each day? And each night?
What does it sound like when they cook you?
Is the politician I choose food? For whom?
What minerals are we in constant contact with? How did they get here? How will they leave?
And so, do plastics get digested? Do they digest us?
Have you taken a deep breath today? Is there any air left?
Have you listened deeply today?
How is (r)evolution managed?
Do you see yourself enlivening the future? Do you see yourself bringing the future into your spirit?
How far does self-defense extend?
Does the present have a future?
It was urgent!
It was urgent to talk, to do something, and to resolve this.
Did anything happen? Was anything resolved? Or are we in even greater urgency now?
Genocide, urbicide, planeticide, democraticide?
What about the fires? Did we put them out? What about the floods—did we dry them up?
Virtuality, or unreality?
Can you hear the opera?
Can you watch the radio?
Is it urgent?
Submission Categories
The call for radio art is organized into the following duration categories:
micro / short / long / macro
micro: up to 90 seconds
short: up to 6 minutes
long: up to 30 minutes
macro: at least 45 minutes
- Possible Areas of Exploration
Sonic thought, sound art, radio art, experimental music, soundscapes, radio theater, noise, atmospheric sound signals, sound poetry, and much more.
Works of varying durations, pieces, exercises, albums, series, nomadic broadcasts, rebroadcasts
Works must be original, experimental in nature, unpublished, and contemporary.
They must be submitted in uncompressed format (WAV or AIFF, 44.1 kHz and 16 bits minimum), mono or stereo, exclusively via a link provided individually after registration.
Works may be created and submitted individually or by groups of two or more members.
Registration Deadline

Please include:
- First and last name, and (if applicable) stage name
- Email address, full mailing address
- Institutional affiliation (if applicable)
- Performance category
- Chosen theme
- Tentative title of the piece
- Approximate duration of the piece
- Authorization from the authors to publish the work on the Festival’s online channel under a Creative Commons 4.0 NonCommercial-NoDerivs-International license. Publication on the channel will take place after the radio festival.
Submission of the piece
By Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
The piece must be uploaded in uncompressed format to a web link that will be provided to each applicant after registration, accompanied by a brief description of the work, a 1080x1080-pixel JPG image that the authors believe represents the piece, and a brief biography of the authors.
Each participant will be notified of whether or not their piece has been selected.
