Ryuzetsuran 龍絶蘭
Ryuzetsuran, (龍絶蘭) cuya traducción literal del japonés es orquídea lengua de dragón, es un proyecto que se desarrolla en torno a la instalación Flying seed de la artista japonesa Nahoko Tanaka, y juntos forman parte del festival Sumida Expo 2024-Tokio.
En 2015, Nahoko Tanaka le confió al Sr. Otani-san una orquídea lengua de dragón en una maceta y le dijo que no la trasplantara al suelo porque se volvería enorme. El señor Otani, un veterano de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, de casi noventa años, lo plantó de todos modos porque le habían dicho que el suelo delante de su casa no era muy fértil debido a los productos químicos procedentes de una antigua fábrica que lo habían contaminado. en el pasado, por lo que la planta no podría haber crecido excesivamente.
Esta planta produce una flor cada 60-100 años. Floreció este verano, en agosto. La flor ha crecido hasta alcanzar un tamaño magnífico. Pero lamentablemente Otani-san falleció el año pasado en diciembre sin poder verlo.
Nahoko Tanaka creó un dispositivo volador adherido al tallo de la flor, que se extiende 5 metros hacia el cielo, para liberar sus semillas.
Las pequeñas semillas ahora deambulan por la ciudad de Tokio.
El proyecto sonoro es un ritual mágico que se llevará a cabo en torno a esta planta, manipulando y procesando en vivo tres casetes de grabación de campo: uno con los sonidos de la planta grabados con un Arduino, el segundo con los sonidos de amuletos y herramientas de jardineria grabados con micrófonos. contacto del señor Otani-san y el tercero con los sonidos del andamio creado por Nahoko Tanaka, que sostiene como un manifiesto la belleza de lo efímero, del cuidado del tiempo, de los sueños y de la memoria.

Ryuzetsuran, (龍絶蘭) whose literal translation from Japanese is dragon's tongue orchid, is a project that develops around the Flying seed installation by Japanese artist Nahoko Tanaka, and together they are part of the Sumida Expo 2024-Tokyo festival.
In 2015, Nahoko Tanaka gave Mr. Otani-san a potted dragon tongue orchid, telling him not to transplant it into the ground because it would become huge. Mr. Otani, a veteran of the Second World War, almost ninety years old, planted it anyway because he had been told that the soil in front of his house was not very fertile due to chemical products coming from an old factory which had contaminated it in the past, so the plant could not have grown excessively.
This plant produces one flower every 60-100 years. It flowered this summer, in August. The flower has grown to a magnificent size. But sadly Otani-san passed away last year in December without being able to see him.
Nahoko Tanaka created a flying device attached to the flower's stem, which extends 5 meters into the sky, to release its seeds.
The little seeds now roam the city of Tokyo.
